Rhön-Klinikum Campus, Bad Neustadt
The new Rhön-Klinikum Campus offers innovative, full medical care in rural areas. The innovative concept stands for a new understanding of medical care in the interest of the patient. Prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and nursing care flow smoothly into one another here.
The new building was planned by the architectural offices Kriesche aus Salz (ABK) and Dr. Schmidt Planungsgesellschaft from Schleusingen (DSP). The architectural highlight is the Centre for Outpatient Medicine with its large glass dome, which is the medical hub for patient navigation in the centre of the campus. The guidance system planning, created by the Hamburg-based office s-i-s, was implemented with signposts from Meng that were individually adapted to the building situation. An electronic route guidance system from 3D Berlin complements the analog route guidance.
The foyer and central nodes in the building are the starting point of the guidance system. This is also where the most frequently used routes cross. Existing concrete columns were used for the signposting by covering their 4 sides with flat LED housings. With the realization of the planner's specifications for largely frameless lighting elements made of glass, a product development by meng was created that solves several tasks.
With a construction depth of less than 70 mm, a homogeneous LED light distribution up to the edges was achieved in a very small space. Without glare, a sophisticated technology was used to create an illumination that avoids any kind of shadow or disturbance. The information can be updated with a few simple steps.
In addition to these overview elements made of glass and metal, unlit mobile information steles, wall signs, flag signs and illuminated steles from the quintessenz system were also used indoors. The exterior guidance system is dominated by large signposts visible from afar. In addition to the new medical buildings, a multi-storey car park with a digital parking guidance system was also created, which displays the available parking spaces on all levels on a large external stele.
